Cuomo: Limited Graduation Ceremonies Can Return June 26th

Schools may be able to hold smaller, outdoor graduation ceremonies later this month.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo made the announcement Sunday during his daily coronavirus briefing.

“We’re going to allow socially-distanced graduations outdoors with up to 150 people total beginning June 26th. That’s when the schools start to graduate, high schools, and it gives us a couple of weeks between now and then – God forbid the number changes – but schools need to plan. With the progress we’ve made so far and if we continue this trajectory, we’ll be able to do that,” said Cuomo.

On Friday, Cuomo issued an executive order to allow in-person special education instruction during the summer. Schools participating must follow state and federal health guidelines.
