Shane Crooks will be the next chief of the Saratoga Springs Police Department

The City of Saratoga Springs has chosen its next chief of police. Lieutenant Shane Crooks, who has been with the department since 2004, will become the next leader of the Spa City’s police department on September 7th.

The city’s Acting Chief, John Catone, will work with Crooks as he transitions into his new role. Former Chief Greg Veitch retired in May after six years in the position.

WAMC’s Lucas Willard caught up with Lieutenant Crooks on Friday, who talked about his vision for the future of the Saratoga Springs Police Department.

Lucas Willard is a news reporter and host at WAMC Northeast Public Radio, which he joined in 2011. He produces and hosts The Best of Our Knowledge and WAMC Listening Party.
