The Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics facility on McCaffrey Street in Hoosick Falls

Earlier this month, the New York State Department of Environmental Consevation announced remediation work would begin at the Saint-Gobain facility on McCaffrey Street in Hoosick Falls. The Superfund site is at the center of the PFOA water contamination issue affecting village water supplies. PFOA has been linked to ill health effects including cancer.

WAMC's Southern Adirondack Bureau Chief Lucas Willard spoke with Hoosick Falls Mayor Rob Allen about the work intended to prevent PFOA contamination from reaching the village's municipal water supply, which has been outfitted with a filtration system.

Lucas Willard is a reporter and host at WAMC Northeast Public Radio, which he joined in 2011.
