The summer meet at Saratoga Race Course will start one week earlier this summer.

The New York Racing Association announced changes to its spring and summer racing schedules at Belmont and Saratoga on Thursday. It comes in light of proposed construction timelines at Belmont Park, where a new arena is planned.

The Belmont meet will include 48 days of racing from April 26th to July 7th.

The Saratoga meet will begin a week earlier than in years past, with races starting on July 11th and ending Labor Day. Racing days will remain at 40 with Monday and Tuesday being dark, instead of just Tuesdays.

Endorsements from local officials including Saratoga Springs Mayor Meg Kelly were included in the announcement.
