More public dialogue will be held after two threats were discovered at the Niskayuna Central School District in Schenectady County in one week.
A note threatening violence discovered Monday at Niskayuna High School led to an hours-long lockdown. No guns, ammunition, or explosives were discovered.
Another note was found Wednesday and a “shelter-in-place” was initiated at the Van Antwerp Middle School. Classes were resumed after a check by police.
In October, a 17-year-old Niskayuna High School student was charged with making a terroristic threat after allegedly calling for “an attack” at the school on social media.
A Wednesday night public forum drew concerned parents and students.
School officials announced Friday that another forum for community members will be held Monday, November 19th. A students-only forum has been scheduled for Thursday, November 15th.
The Niskayuna Board of Education will hold its next meeting on Tuesday.
