With the recent cold snap increasing the demand for home heating fuel, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says he is looking into numerous reports of late deliveries and possible price gouging from propane suppliers.
Schneiderman said in a video message Tuesday that over the past several days his office has been flooded with calls from homeowners complaining of untimely deliveries or suspected price gouging of heating propane.
“That’s why I am launching an investigation into potential misconduct by suppliers across the state and will not hesitate to take action on behalf of consumers when necessary,” said Schneiderman.
The Democrat asks anyone who suspects misconduct by a propane provider to contact his office at 518-776-2000 or file a complaint at ag.ny.gov.
