Wikipedia

A state task force on drinking water quality will begin addressing emerging contaminants and issues in New York communities.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Friday that the Drinking Water Quality Council, made of appointees from the Democratic governor, the state Assembly, and Senate, will hold its first meeting on October 2nd at SUNY Stony Brook on Long Island.

A second meeting will be held in the Capital Region later this year.

The Council’s first task will be to make recommendations for Maximum Contaminant Levels for chemicals unregulated by the federal government that have been found in New York communities including PFOA, PFOS, and 1,4-dioxane.
