NYSDEC Reschedules Glenville Superfund Meeting For April 4th

NYS DEC logo

Due to last week's snowstorm, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has rescheduled a meeting for April 4th to discuss the next phase of a Superfund cleanup project in the Schenectady County town of Glenville.

The former Kenco site, once a chemical packaging facility, on Freemans Bridge Road is contaminated with materials that are commonly found near dry cleaners.

The state has already completed one phase of the cleanup and has extended clean, municipal water to several surrounding homes with private wells.

WAMC’s Lucas Willard spoke over Skype with Bob Schick, Director of DEC's Division of Environmental Remediation, about what is planned next for the site.

An informational meeting on the agency's cleanup work at the former Kenco site in the Schenectady County town of Glenville will be held April 4th at the Glenville Senior Center at 7 p.m.

Lucas Willard is a reporter and host at WAMC Northeast Public Radio, which he joined in 2011.
