Union College Announces $100 Million Project

Union College, a private institution in Schenectady, announced Friday a $100 million expansion and  renovation of its Science and Engineering Center.

Officials say it is the largest capital project in the school's history. As part of the project, three sections of the existing science building will be completely renovated and two will be demolished and replaced with an outdoor quad.

The renovations will include new classrooms, laboratories, and shared learning spaces.

Board of Trustees John E. Kelly III said the project "is a major step in our goal to be the world’s best institution at fully integrating liberal arts with engineering."

A groundbreaking is planned for May 30.
