On Wednesday, Weitz & Luxenberg filed its suit on behalf of plaintiff James Donavan. The complaint alleges that exposure to the chemical PFOA, which was discovered in the village drinking water supply and private wells, has caused Donavan’s ulcerative colitis and other illnesses.
The chemical was used at several buildings in Hoosick Falls now owned by Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics.
The area has since been labeled a New York State Superfund Site.
After the discovery of the chemical in Hoosick Falls, it has also been detected in several other communities including nearby Petersburgh and Bennington and North Bennington, Vermont.
