New York Opens Campgrounds In Adirondacks, Catskills

New York state has opened its campgrounds in the Adirondacks and Catskills to public use for the season.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo's administration announced the annual reopening of the campgrounds on Friday.

The Democratic governor says the parks offer some of the world's greatest outdoor recreation opportunities and residents and visitors alike should start planning their trips now.

The state operates 52 campgrounds in the Adirondack and Catskill parks. Some sites are available on a first-come basis while others can be reserved.

The camping season runs through Labor Day, though certain sites stay open later.
