Assemblymembers To Join Picketing Nurses In Gloversville

twitter

Two Capital Region Assemblymen are scheduled to join picketing nurses outside Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville Saturday. Democrats Phil Steck and Angelo Santabarbara are scheduled to rally outside the hospital at noon.

Demonstrators demanding a fair contract were locked out after striking Wednesday.

Officials did not respond to a request for comment Friday. Earlier this week officials said the mood inside the hospital was "calm and positive" and that patient care would remain unaffected. The hospital said anyone striking outside the scheduled time would be locked out until Monday.

The New York State Nurses Association, which represents 137 employees at the hospital, says a formal complaint was filed with the National Labor Relations Board over the lockout.

Union workers  have been without a contract for two years.
