Quirky CEO Ben Kaufman Steps Down

Quirky

The head of a Schenectady company that recently laid off more than 100 workers has resigned.

Quirky founder Ben Kaufman will no longer serve as chief operating officer of the company that opened an office in downtown Schenectady last year. Kaufman announced via Twitter that July 31st was his last day as CEO.

Last week, it was revealed that the New York City-based company would lay off 109 employees as it continues to focus on its subsidiary, Wink.

A statement posted to Quirky's blog reads "Ben continues to believe in Quirky’s core mission to make invention accessible and believes that mission will live on."

Company chief financial officer Ed Kremer will serve as CEO.
