Two Weeks After Prisoner Escape, Conversation With Clinton County DA

Pat Bradley/WAMC

It has been nearly two weeks since convicted murderers David Sweat and Richard Matt broke out of maximum security Clinton Correctional facility in Dannamora, New York. In the time since, hundreds of law enforcement officers have been searching the region and chasing down leads — but they admit they don’t know where the two are yet. The only person arrested so far is prison employee Joyce Mitchell, who authorities say supplied the pair contraband and originally plotted to serve as their getaway driver. Clinton County District Attorney Andrew Wylie this week also confirmed the plan had included the possible murder of Mitchell’s husband, also a prison employee. Wylie sat down with WAMC’s North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley.
