Columbia County agencies and first responders were called to deal with an oil spill on the Hudson River Sunday.
Respondents, including State Police, the state Department of Environmental Conservation and the state Office of Emergency Management/Homeland Security converged at the end of Anchorage Road in Germantown, where the boat launch is located. According to the Register-Star, a 9-1-1 call came in at 4:46 p.m. alerting authorities to the spill, which is believed to have veen caused by a transfer line that fell from a tanker ship traveling southbound on the Hudson River. No word yet as to how serious the spill is or how long clean-up will take.
