A capital district teenager, who said she shot her father to death because she feared for her life, was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison on Thursday. 19-year-old Trinity Copeland of Troy who was convicted in April of second degree murder in the killing her father in July of 2012, was sentenced in Rensselaer County court. The prosecution had argued that Copeland had stolen money from her father and shot him with a rifle while he slept. Before the sentencing Trinity Copeland apologized for killing her father but said she too was a victim.
