Chipfab Plant For Marcy

The Albany NanoCollege is branching out westward, stimulating even more growth.

The College could invest as much as $50 billion in the Mohawk Valley through the development of a large computer chip manufacturing site outside Utica. The partnership between SUNY College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering and Mohawk Valley EDGE was announced Wednesday  The Marcy NanoCenter site next to SUNY IT there in Marcy has enough acreage to support three fabs - the operation would be larger than the current GlobalFoundries factory in Malta. Officials say the project will bring 5,000 direct and 15,000 indirect jobs.
