Plattsburgh, NY – More than two dozen local business and municipal officials gathered at the Plattsburgh/North Country Chamber of Commerce offices to hear an overview of NY's State of the State from Department of State Deputy Secretary for Local Government Dede Scozzafava.

Scozzafava used the Governor's powerpoint presentation to review key points and issues from the speech.

In the discussion session, one person suggested that the Cuomo administration invest in the existing and under-utilized 211 system as officials redesign the emergency management system. Another pointed to SUNY and community colleges as an economic driver for the state and region. But most were concerned about, and hopeful there would be progress regarding, unfunded mandates. Plattsburgh Town Councilor Tom Wood is skeptical mandate relief will occur.

Town of Plattsburgh Deputy Supervisor Marty Mannix told the Governor's representatives that every proposal a legislator submits should be assessed for its cost.

Administration officials will continue to meet with officials across NY to debrief them on the Governor's State of the State plan
