Albany, NY – U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, who serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee, unveiled a plan to strengthen job protections, and increase access to services for Guard and Reserve members and their families. She says the proposal will help the 25,000 full and part-time NY National Guard and Reserve members, including the 13-hundred currently deployed .
Gillibrand's legislation focuses on health, jobs and access to services.
Senator Gillibrand says the jobs legislation, in particular, was prompted by feedback from Guard members and their families.
Portions of the Senator's proposal are based on a Vermont pilot program that has been expanded into seven states.
