Albany, NY – New Yorkers are hunkering down for their first night after a nor'easter dumped several inches of snow along the east coast. National Grid is urging customers to be prepared for possible power outages and gas emergencies. Capital District Bureau Chief Dave Lucas reports...
National Grid is "on watch" as blowing and drifting snow coupled with brisk winds and plunging temperatures could make this night a long one. Spokesperson Patrick Stella stresses the importance of reporting downed wires: call 1-800-867-5222 to report any problems. National Grid encourages customers to pick up the phone and report when the power goes out. Stella says don't assume that your neighbors have already called. They might be thinking the same thing about you!
And Stella suggests making sure any portable devices: flashlights, cell phones, radios, laptops, TV's and DVD players are fully charged, especially on a night like this.
