Campaign Finance Reform

By Dave Lucas

Albany, NY – Campaign Finance Laws are under scrutiny in New York and Vermont. Common Cause NY, the League of Women Voters and The New York Public Interest Research Group came out with a report Tuesday that found 72 companies violated corporate campaign finance limits. The groups found that state Board of Elections has just one investigator overseeing thousands of campaigns. In Vermont, House lawmakers gave preliminary approval in a voice vote Tuesday afternoon to a campaign finance reform bill that sets new limits on political contributions. Capital District Bureau Chief Dave Lucas reports.
