Montpelier, VT – The Vermont Supreme Court has a "Committee on Fairness and Equal Access to Justice" to assure fairness and equal access to Vermont's courts. It's most recent study focused on the impact of the state's growing linguistic diversity on the courts. What it found is a floundering system that is "inadequate to provide equal access" to those whose primary language is not English. Advocates also want Vermont to provide greater legal protections for foreign language interpreters. Pat Bradley has more.
