Vermont Auditor Finds Health Program Missed Financial Goal

A new report by Vermont Auditor of Accounts Doug Hoffer says a health care program set up to keep patients healthier while reducing costs missed its financial goals.
The auditor’s report says the program missed its target operating costs by $25.6 million between 2017 and 2019.

The goal of the accountable care organization run by OneCare Vermont is to keep patients healthier while reducing health care costs by paying a set amount for each covered patient rather than paying for each service provided.

OneCare CEO Vicki Loner says they disagree with Hoffer's report and they are proud of the work they are doing.
