Health Department Probes Outbreak Linked To Hockey Rink

The Vermont Department of Health is investigating an outbreak of COVID-19 cases among members of youth and adult recreational hockey and broomball teams.
Officials say 18 cases among players and their close contacts is linked to people who practiced or played at the Central Vermont Memorial Civic Center in Montpelier earlier this month.

Governor Phil Scott noted that in neighboring New Hampshire all indoor hockey activities have been paused for two weeks after 158 positive COVID-19 tests.  “Our guidelines are much more stringent.and they also allow much more interstate play than we do.”

The VT Health Department recommends people with direct links to the teams or the Civic Center and their close contacts get tested.
