Massachusetts Public Health Commissioner Dr. Monica Bharel has tested positive for COVID-19. She announced the news Friday evening after being tested for the virus Thursday night.
"As the public health commissioner and an essential state employee, I have been vigilant about practicing social distancing from my colleagues and members of the public," said Bharel.
Bharel said her symptoms so far were mild, and that she would conduct her responsibilities from home.
