Berkshire County residents are hitting the polls today for Super Tuesday. WAMC spoke to some of them this morning in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
After a long, contentious Democratic presidential primary, Pittsfield voters are casting their ballots.
Mary Stucklen was outside of her poll location in Pittsfield’s Ward 4B with a “Bernie” sign bright and early Tuesday morning. She says the Vermont Senator represents the answer to her biggest issue.
“Sustainability," said Stucklen. "The climate crisis is real, we need to do something about it, and I think that Bernie is our best chance.”
Meanwhile, Leslie Wessler says she decided just within the past 24 hours to vote for Joe Biden after the former Vice President received endorsements from former rivals Beto O’Rourke, Pete Buttigieg, and Amy Klobuchar.
“We need someone that’s electable that will absolutely beat Trump and this sounds like a broken record, but that’s exactly what we need – Trump needs to get out," Wessler told WAMC. "Period.”
Meanwhile, in the Republican primary, Dave Bubriski is sticking with President Trump over former Massachusetts Governor William Weld, citing Trump’s positions on taxes, the Second Amendment, and immigration.
“I’m a Republican and I think he’s been doing a good job," said Bubriski. "He can be a little rough around the edges, but I think we have to continue on the course we’re on.”
Polls close in Massachusetts at 8 p.m.
