The town of Great Barrington, Massachusetts has completed work on a major downtown construction project.
After two years of design and four months of construction, Great Barrington has completed a rehabilitation of the downtown core. Town Planner Chris Rembold says some of the streets affected – including Railroad Street, Elm Street, Bridge Street, Church Street, and School Street – hadn’t been updated in 40 years.
“That included fixing the crumbling sidewalks, the deteriorating streets, it added new decorative light poles on Railroad Street and widened the sidewalks.”
Of the $2.3 million that went into the project, $2.1 million came from a 2015 MassWorks grant.
