In February, Berkshire County District Attorney Andrea Harrington fulfilled a campaign promise and largely ended the use of cash bail by her office. It comes during a national conversation about cash bail – one that freelance journalist and New York Times Op-Ed contributor Bryce Covert has been following for years. She spoke with WAMC about the arguments for and against cash bail, and how efforts to reform the system are playing out around the country.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
