Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker is calling for an end to the partial federal government shutdown.

Visiting Lee Friday, Baker said his office is monitoring the Health and Human Services programs affected by the partial shutdown, which he described as “OK for now.” The Republican expressed concern for furloughed federal workers living in the state.

“I think we, like so many others, want to see the shutdown end and we hope that those folks in DC can come to terms on this sooner rather than later," he told reporters. "The longer it goes, the worse it’s going to get.”

Baker was sworn in for a second term Thursday.
