A Vermont health officials' report says rates of tobacco use and bullying continue to decrease for teens in the state.
The Rutland Herald reports the 2017 Youth Risk Behavior Survey Report released Thursday provides information on trends that affect high school and middle school students. The survey is part of a national study conducted every two years.
Vermont Department of Health commissioner Dr. Mark Levine says smoking among all students has decreased 50 percent over the past 10 years. The prevalence of bullying has also decreased since the 2015 survey.
Health officials say LGBT students and students of color are more likely to experience some type of distress.
Levine says there are "glaring disparities" between students of color and white students and between LGBT students and non-LGBT students.
