Great Barrington, Massachusetts is preparing for its town meeting on Monday.

Five-year Great Barrington select board member Ed Abrahams told WAMC that “the main event is voting on the town’s operating budget, the town’s capital budget, and the school budget.”

Abrahams says the town’s marijuana zoning bylaws will also take center stage; namely, where and how residents can cultivate the plant in Great Barrington. The town’s planning board has put forth a proposal, but the select board is seeking to amend the bylaw to make it more restrictive.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
