FERC Denies Requests To Halt Kinder Morgan's Pipeline Expansion

wikipedia.org

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has denied several requests to halt Kinder Morgan’s Connecticut Pipeline Expansion Project in Massachusetts’ Otis State Forest.

FERC says the requests made by Massachusetts Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey, Congressman Richard Neal and several citizen groups were denied because “impacts will be adequately minimized or mitigated.”

Now, Kinder Morgan can proceed cutting trees in Otis State Forest to build its tri-state, 13-mile natural gas storage loop. The energy company says it has put in place barriers to limit environmental impacts.

Twenty-four demonstrators have been arrested by Massachusetts State Police since the tree felling began.
