6 More Arrested At Otis State Forest Protesting Kinder Morgan Pipeline

Sugar Shack Alliance

Massachusetts State Police arrested six more people who were blocking Kinder Morgan from cutting down trees in Otis State Forest on Saturday. The protestors want to stop a natural gas pipeline expansion.

State Police spokesperson Dave Procopio says six people were arrested for trespassing in restricted areas in Otis State Forest where Kinder Morgan is installing the Connecticut Expansion Project.

“They were very courteous. They were very respectful to us, and they were very peaceful. And that is the first thing I want to say that we appreciate that and we aim to return that courtesy and be respectful to them as well,” Procopio says.

Kinder Morgan says it has designated safe zones for demonstrators, and it supports their right to protest as long as they don’t impede work.

18 people from the Sugar Shack Alliance activist group were arrested last week. Alliance members say they have a right to be there because it’s a public forest.
