Food bank executive director Andrew Morehouse said beginning this spring pediatric patients at Holyoke Health Center will be screened for food insecurity.

" Whether a person, or household,  is skipping meals or unable to adequately nourish themselves because there is a lack of resources to put food on the table," explained Morhouse.

Morehouse said the 8-month pilot program is the first step in implementing an action plan developed by a task force that was created to look into ways to end hunger in the region.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
