A western Massachusetts city is offering loans and grants to businesses to create jobs downtown.
The city of Chicopee will use $225,000 in federal funds for a business assistance program.
New or existing businesses in a designated downtown area can apply for money to do a variety of projects from simple façade improvements to purchasing property or equipment, according to economic development director Mike Vedovelli.
There are even deferred payment plans.
" We want to be flexible and work with( businesses) to expand economic opportunities, " said Vedovelli.
Chicopee is also offering tax incentives to developers to build housing downtown.
