Dry conditions have led to high forest fire danger levels in Connecticut. State officials are reminding residents to take care over the holiday weekend with the use of sparklers, fireworks, campfires and other flammable materials.Robert Klee, commissioner of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, says the danger levels will remain high until there is a good statewide soaking.

He says the forecast calls for hot and dry conditions across Connecticut over the next few days.

Residents must have a permit to burn brush on their property, and permits are not valid within 100 feet of a grassland or woodland when forest fire danger is high, very high or extreme.
