Vermont To Offer More Blood Testing For Chemical Exposure

The Vermont Health Department is offering more blood test clinics for Bennington residents who have been exposed to a potentially cancer causing chemical in their drinking water.
More than 100 private water wells in the area around the former Chemfab plant in North Bennington have been found with levels of the suspected carcinogen perfluorooctanoic acid as high as nearly 3,000 parts per trillion. Vermont has set an advisory level of 20 parts per trillion of PFOA in drinking water.

The tests will measure the level of PFOA in a person's blood. Clinics will be held on May 24, June 24 and June 28 at the Health Department’s district office in Bennington.

Residents who want to be tested must register by May 31…. and can do so online at http://survey.healthvermont.gov/s3/PFOA-Blood-Draw-Registration.
