Police are investigating a deadly shooting Friday afternoon in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

Police responded to the 100 block of Tyler Street around 1 p.m. Friday after receiving a call of shots fired, according to the Berkshire District Attorney’s office. First responders found two men with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. Both were taken to Berkshire Medical Center. Eighteen-year-old Keenan Pellot Jr. of Pittsfield was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. The second victim, a 17-year-old man also from Pittsfield, was undergoing surgery Friday afternoon. He is expected to survive.

Police are also investigating another report of shots fired shortly thereafter on Hull Avenue, several blocks from the Tyler Street site.

District Attorney David Capeless says no determination has been made as to whether Friday’s shootings are connected to the deadly July 4th shootings, adding that it is an avenue investigators are pursuing.

“Investigators are following up on information and leads they have obtained,” Capeless said in a statement Friday afternoon. “We are grateful for that assistance, and I hope that anyone who has any further information will please contact the Pittsfield Police Department at (413) 448-9700.”
