Former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick will be paid $7,500 per day when he travels overseas to lobby for Boston’s bid to land the 2024 Olympics.
The disclosure of the per diem arrangement with Patrick and the salaries and fees being paid by Boston 2024 have raised eyebrows, according to Springfield based political consultant Tony Cignoli.
" It gives the average person cause to pause and say: What's up? Why all this fire power and at such high prices," said Cignolli.
Former Patrick administration transportation secretary Richard Davey is being paid $300,000 as executive director of the private entity trying to bring the Olympics to Boston. The bid will require public money for transportation projects. Boston 2024 disclosed its 10 full time employees are being paid a total of $1.4 million. A group of consultants are being paid $125,000 a month.
