A Springfield, Massachusetts high school student has been stabbed to death, an ex-boyfriend is under arrest.

17-year-old Kathryn Mauke was stabbed multiple times inside her family’s home on Springfield’s east side.  Police arrested 20-year-old Nikolas Lacrosse -- described as an ex-boyfriend -- and charged him with murder.

Police did not disclose a possible motive.

Mauke was a senior at the SABIS International Charter School, where head supervisor William Foley said grief counselors were brought in Thursday.

"Everybody has been out on the floor being very attentive to any student needs whether it is health care or emotional needs," Foley said.

Mauke , last month,  earned a four-year full tuition scholarship to American International College in an academic competition.
