Charlie Baker has begun the process of taking over as governor of Massachusetts. The Republican met with Democratic Governor Deval Patrick at the Statehouse Wednesday. After Attorney General Martha Coakley conceded the race Wednesday morning, Baker and lieutenant governor-elect Karyn Polito spoke with reporters. Baker, who lost a gubernatorial bid in 2010, says he expects a seamless transition as they look to set up their administration.

“I think the first thing we’re going to do is focus on the team,” Baker said. “Focusing on hiring great people. Great people in the end are how you build great administrations and great organizations and do great things. That’s where we’re going to focus our efforts.”

Responding to reporters’ questions, Baker says he plans to dig into issues with Massachusetts’ online healthcare marketplace and the state’s handling of medical marijuana dispensaries.
