Nine-Term Congressman Tierney Ousted In Massachusetts

Nine-term Massachusetts Congressman John Tierney has lost his 6th District Democratic primary to challenger Seth Moulton, a 35-year-old war veteran and Harvard grad. A sitting Congressman had not lost in the Bay State since 1996.

Moulton moves on to face Republican Richard Tisei November. Immigration attorney Mrisa DeFranco and two other Democrats were also on the ballot. Tierney is the first incumbent Democratic Congressman from Massachusetts to lose a primary in 22 years.
