Following on the heels of two fellow Democrats vying to be the next governor of Massachusetts, Don Berwick released his first television ad Monday. The ad focuses on Berwick’s experience as a pediatrician and founder of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. State Treasurer Steve Grossman launched his first ad in July, while the campaign for fellow Democrat and state Attorney General Martha Coakley hit television screens last week. Berwick, a former federal healthcare administrator, says now is the right time.

“People are now starting to say ‘Oh, September 9th? Primary? Tell me about your positions, who else is running and we’re there to meet them where they are,” said Berwick.

Though a political action committee is running an ad in support of Republican Charlie Baker, neither Baker nor Tea Party candidate Mark Fisher have aired their own. Independents Jeff McCormick and Evan Falchuk launched ads earlier this summer. IndependentScott Lively has not.
