Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick is sorting through dozens of bills that hit his desk as the legislative session ended at midnight.
The governor has ten days from the date the legislation is given final adoption to sign it into law, or veto it, according to Republican State Senator Don Humason.
"The legislature is in informal session right now. So, we can't go back to override any of the governor's vetoes at this point. But, honestly, I don't expect many of the things we've given him are particularly controversial."
Patrick signed four bills in public ceremonies Wednesday. Most bills are not signed in public. Still awaiting the governor’s signature are major bills on gun control, and economic development. One controversial item would extend privacy protections for domestic violence victims. It is opposed by the Newspaper Publishers Association.
