Tens of thousands of people are expected to converge on Pittsfield, Massachusetts Friday for the city’s Fourth of July parade.

The parade is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. at the intersection of South Street and East and West Housatonic Streets in downtown Pittsfield. Floats and banners representing the more than 170 organizations and individuals in the parade’s lineup will be decorated according to this year’s theme “Made in America.”

“It’s a great way for the community to come together and people of all ages,” said Jen Glockner, the city’s director of cultural development. “I mean who doesn’t love a parade. It really brings the politicians, the community, the cultural venues, the schools and the marching bands…everyone comes together to celebrate America.”

The parade continues down North Street and finishes at Wahconah Park where thePittsfield Suns play at 7 p.m.

James Taylor is returning to Tanglewoodin Lenox for two sold-out concerts tonight and Friday. Both start at 8 p.m.
