Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick was in Lee Monday morning to break ground on a road construction project. The Democrat returned to the commonwealth last week after a trip to Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
Gov. Patrick marked work on a two-mile, $4.4 million construction project on Tyringham Road. The Democrat spoke about his one-week trip which included a return to Israel.
“Since our first trip in 2011 there are now some 200 Israeli-rooted companies doing business in Massachusetts,” Patrick said. “$6.5 billion in revenue and nearly 7,000 people employed. I think that over time and with the follow-up the trip to Dubai and Abu Dhabi will produce similar kinds of results.”
Patrick has made it a goal to expand the commonwealth’s trade internationally over his eight years in office. The Democrat is not seeking reelection this November.
