Lisman Says He Won't Run For Vermont Governor

Campaign for Vermont

Vermont businessman and pro-business activist Bruce Lisman says he will not run for governor this year.

The former financial services industry executive and founder of the group Campaign for Vermont says he had been urged to run against Democratic Governor Peter Shumlin and has had many people ask him if he will.

The Shelburne resident said Wednesday he wants to continue with what he calls Campaign for Vermont's moderate advocacy of a range of issues including an improved business climate in Vermont.

Other issues being pushed by the group include better management of the state budget, ethics standards for government officials, more transparency — especially around changes to Vermont's health care system — and a better education system.
