Environmental Activists Gain Support For Fracking Ban In Massachusetts

Hydrofracking.jpg

Environmental activists in Massachusetts have enlisted the help of health professionals in a campaign for a state ban on fracking.

The organization Environment Massachusetts released letters signed by 100 doctors, nurses, and medical researchers that declare the controversial natural gas drilling technique to be a growing  threat to public health and the environment. Ben Hellerstein, a field associate for Environment Massachusetts said a bill in the Massachusetts House would put a ten-year moratorium on fracking in Massachusetts.

" We are hopeful that our state legislators will  take action this session and make sure that fracking never comes to our state."

The petroleum industry insists there is no commercial potential for natural gas drilling in Massachusetts.
