Report Looks At Health Care Cost Trends In Massachusetts

ma.gov

A new report estimates that up to a third of the money spent on health care in Massachusetts is doing little to improve the lives of patients.  The report from the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission cited several examples of wasteful spending that contributes to Massachusetts having the highest per person health care costs in the country. WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with Dr. Paul Hattis, a member of the commission about the report.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
