Vermont's unemployment rate has climbed to 4.6 percent in July, the third consecutive month reporting an increase in the state's rate.

The July seasonally adjusted rate climbed two-tenths of a percentage point from June, after climbing three-tenths of a percentage point from May to June.

The comparative national rate in July was 7.4 percent, which is down from 7.6 percent in June.

Despite the increase, Vermont's unemployment rate remained the fourth-lowed in the country.

Local, non-seasonally adjusted rates ranged from 3.0 percent in Hartford to 5.7 percent in Newport.
